The Name
Willow in the Wind rustic furniture company was started by Kim and Deborah Embretson. They were inspired to start making willow furniture after they enjoyed the comfort and natural beauty of the willow chair in their lake cabin. They discovered that the creative process of using natural and renewable resources to build furniture was both practical and very satisfying.
Willow in the Wind Furniture is hand made by Kim and Deborah. They carefully select branches and shoots from woodlots and wetlands in Ottertail County, in the heart of one of Minnesota's lakes regions. The natural curves of the trees, and traditional rustic furniture construction techniques provide the inspiration for the unique furniture shapes.
The furniture is built in the Embretson's workshop located at their home in Fergus Falls MN. Ten years of experience has produced several construction techniques that strengthen the overall design of each piece of furniture. All pieces are finished with the same Spar varnish that is used to preserve wooden boats. This durable finish protects the furniture from water damage and gives each piece a look reminiscent of a 1920's lake cabin.
Every Willow in the Wind creation is unique. Each branch or shoot takes on a different form influenced by the forces of nature. Sunlight, water, cold winters and interaction with animals all combine to alter the growth pattern and bark texture of each piece of wood.
Every effort is made to insure that Willow in the Wind creations are of top quality. All products come with a satisfaction guarantee. The cushions shown in the photgraphs are standard outdoor fare and can be purchased at many retail stores.
